Candice Keaton

Greetings! My name is Candice Keaton. I am a lifelong Santa Clarita resident and mother of two United States Marines, and two daughters that attend HuckleBerry. I began my professional career as a barista at Starbucks, and worked my way to management of the Castaic location, where I ran it successfully for years prior to becoming a full time mom and homeschooler. Leadership at Starbucks taught me the importance of individuality, tolerance, coaching with kindness, and teamwork.

I enjoy a variety of hobbies including book clubs, travel, fitness, nutrition, and sports for entertainment. I love board games and Disneyland!

As a homeschooling mother, I will utilize my perspective to help you and your child reach your goals at home. This course is designed to teach your children important life skills, and encourage individual growth, as well as fostering relationships with their peers and community. I will provide parents with valuable resources and samples that can assist you in your homeschool journey. I look forward to contributing to your success and joy at HuckleBerry!

Whole Body Health

Homework:

Occasional homework will be assigned throughout each semester, but not to exceed one hour per week. Homework will directly affect  how students are able to contribute or participate in the following week’s lesson, so it is important that they complete the assignments with sincerity. For example; students may be asked to complete food/exercise/screen time logs at home, so that we can discuss habits in class. They may also be asked to bring items such as food labels or articles, or conduct a bit of research at home so that they can better contribute to class discussions/projects.

CLASS PURPOSE

Whole Body Health will educate and engage learners ages 11-13, on how to make informed decisions for a lifetime of wellness. We will utilize various health curriculum & wellness practices to help students achieve greater understanding of themselves, what determines their overall health, and how to make choices to support it. Through learning, reflection, and self discovery, my goal is to guide your learners confidently into the teen years, feeling empowered and prepared to make choices for their futures.
