Cari Byers

Hi HuckleBerry Families!! My name is Mrs. Byers and I will be working with

Emerging Learners as well as helping as an Administrative Supervisor this year! We

are going to have such a fun school year full of learning and memories. I am really

looking forward to getting to know your students, but first I wanted to tell you a

little bit about me.

I was born and raised here in Santa Clarita. I am happily married and my husband

and I have 5 wonderful children. We also have two dogs and a cat in our busy

household! I have recently graduated from driving a family minivan to driving a fun

“just for me " car, so you may spot my pink Barbie Jeep in the parking lot!

I have been teaching and working with children for almost 30 years! My degree is

in Early Childhood Education and I have primarily worked with children from

preschool through elementary ages. My goal is to meet each child where they are

and help them grow to the best of their ability. I hope that when our time

together is finished, your child will move into their next grade with confidence and

a love for learning, having been equipped with all they need to succeed!

I am looking forward to getting to know all of you better throughout the year! I am

always willing to answer any questions or work on any concerns.

Emerging Learners Reading & Writing - Intermediate

This class builds strong foundational reading skills through systematic phonics instruction, spelling, and fluency practice. Students review mastery of CVC words and then progress into more advanced phonics patterns including long vowel spellings, contractions, vowel teams, and r-controlled vowels.

Students also strengthen reading fluency, vocabulary, and confidence through decodable texts and continued practice with high-frequency words.

Students enrolling in this class should already be able to confidently read and spell CVC words, know most letter sounds, and demonstrate early beginning reading skills. They should also be familiar with long vowel sounds, as well as basic phonics patterns such as sh, ch, and -ing. Students should be ready to build on these skills by learning more complex phonics patterns including long vowel spellings, contractions, vowel teams, and r-controlled vowels.
