Cari Byers
Hi HuckleBerry Families!! My name is Mrs. Byers and I will be working with
Emerging Learners as well as helping as an Administrative Supervisor this year! We
are going to have such a fun school year full of learning and memories. I am really
looking forward to getting to know your students, but first I wanted to tell you a
little bit about me.
I was born and raised here in Santa Clarita. I am happily married and my husband
and I have 5 wonderful children. We also have two dogs and a cat in our busy
household! I have recently graduated from driving a family minivan to driving a fun
“just for me " car, so you may spot my pink Barbie Jeep in the parking lot!
I have been teaching and working with children for almost 30 years! My degree is
in Early Childhood Education and I have primarily worked with children from
preschool through elementary ages. My goal is to meet each child where they are
and help them grow to the best of their ability. I hope that when our time
together is finished, your child will move into their next grade with confidence and
a love for learning, having been equipped with all they need to succeed!
I am looking forward to getting to know all of you better throughout the year! I am
always willing to answer any questions or work on any concerns.
Emerging Learners - Math Foundations
This engaging, high-energy class helps students build confidence in math
through games, movement, and hands-on challenges.
Each session is designed to keep learners active and thinking as they develop
key math skills through interactive activities, real-life problem solving, and
fun themed lessons. Students will work both independently and in groups,
learning how to approach problems with confidence and creativity.
By the end of each trimester, students will have strengthened their math
foundation and be ready to progress to the next level.
Fall : Addition & Subtraction in Action
During the fall trimester, students will focus on building strong addition and
subtraction fluency.
Through fast-paced games, movement-based challenges, and practical
problem-solving activities, students will develop accuracy, speed, and
confidence with numbers. Lessons are designed to make math feel
approachable and fun while strengthening essential foundational skills.
By the end of the trimester, students will have a stronger sense of place value,
skip counting, and adding multiple numbers.
Winter: Math Adventures: Measuring, Number Sense & Early
Multiplication
This trimester builds on foundational skills by helping students deepen their
understanding of numbers and explore early multiplication concepts.
Students will strengthen their addition and subtraction skills while learning
to recognize patterns and equal groups, laying the groundwork for
multiplication. They will also strengthen their technology skills by using
various tools of measurement. Through interactive activities and guided
challenges, students will begin to see how numbers work together in more
structured ways. Problem-solving and real-life applications will continue to
support critical thinking and confidence.
By the end of the trimester, students will have a stronger sense of associative
and commutative properties, composing and decomposing numbers, and
measuring objects.
Spring: Understanding Fractions and Telling Time
In the spring trimester, students will expand their math skills by
exploring fractions, digital and analog clocks, and real-world applications.
Through games and art, students will use hands-on problem-solving skills to
understand fractions and time. They will also apply their skills to practical,
real-world problems and solutions, helping them connect math to everyday
life. Through engaging challenges and collaborative learning, students will
continue building both fluency and confidence.
By the end of the trimester, students will have a strong foundation in these
concepts and be well prepared for the next stage of math learning.
