HuckleBerry's
Lego Robotics & Engineering!
HuckleBerry partners with Play-Well Teknology to provide our suite of Lego Engineering classes! These are extremely hands-on classes with no homework and no paperwork from the class itself;
it's ALL building, experimenting, re-building, re-experimenting!

In each class, instructors are teaching STEM concepts & vocabulary with an emphasis in physics and engineering. Students learn how gears work, where fulcrums should be placed, trajectories, energy displacement, tower / shape strength and so much more through their projects and experimentation. Lessons are learned through team and solo play and experimentation.
These classes tend to fill fast!

Lego Engineering
for new and continuing students!

Winter Wonderland Engineering using LEGO® Materials
Get ready for the deep freeze this winter! Apply concepts in engineering and architecture to brave the challenges of winter weather. Design and build motorized contraptions such as snowplows, gondolas, and a snowball launcher with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor and tens of thousands of LEGO® pieces.

Some of our project concepts include:
Snowmobile - Pullback motor, clock spring.
Downhill skiing - gravity, levers
Penguin - direct drive
Carousel - friction and speed
Dog sled - linkage, pivoting connections

And so much more!

Explore Coding using the LEGO® Spike Prime System

11:15 - 12:45 - Ages 9-12

Rise to the challenge to build and program robots using the LEGO® Spike Prime system! Learn about mechanical and software design, loops, conditional statements, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Design and construct your robot to avoid obstacles, pick up and carry objects, and play sounds. Projects are structured so that students work in an open-ended, investigative environment while having fun! This class will continue to have Robotics projects for the Winter and Spring session! Some of our projects and concepts include:

Ferris Wheel - Single Motor Function, Force Sensor
Drawbridge - Single Motor Function, Distance Sensor
Golfer - Force Sensor, Motor Control & Precision
Dunk Tank - Force Sensor, Switches (If Statements)
Catapult Game - Distance Sensor, Loops, Wait For Blocks

Learn Coding using the LEGO® Spike Prime System

1:15 - 2:45 - Ages 6-10
Build and program robots in this introductory Robotics class using the LEGO® Spike Prime® system. Learn basic programming skills using a simple and visual block coding system that will allow kids to grasp new and diverse coding challenges. Join us as we build a variety of different robots using motors, sensors and lights that will make for a fun experience that incorporates both building with LEGO® and coding. This is a great way to prepare young Robotics enthusiasts for our more advanced Robotics programs.
